L & N Equine would like to welcome our new horses to the farm this month.

We expect to see everyone this Saturday, May 5^th, for our 3^rd Annual Kentucky Derby Party from 4:30 on!  We will have a Cinco De Mayo theme complete with a wide array of Mexican delicacies, sombreros, and a piñata.  Bring a few dollars to put on your favorite horse in our betting pools, BYOB, and contact us if you would like to bring any extra goodies!

L & N Equine has enjoyed a great start to the competition season so far!  Chloe and Andrea Balas were 4^th in Beginner Novice at Spring Bay, their first horse trial in over two years, finishing on their dressage score.  Incredibly was 9^th in his first outing of the year, Preliminary at Spring Bay.  The following weekend, Radiation, also owned by Andrea Balas, was 2^nd and 4^th with Lauren Nethery in the irons at his first jumper competition above 2’.  Chloe also conquered the Training Level cross country course at Masterson that same day and is gearing up for a Novice debut!

May 12^th, the Sayre School is sponsoring a Combined Test at Masterson Station Park.  Chloe, Ray, Taler, and perhaps another pony or two will all make appearances.  MayDaze Horse Trials will be held May 25^th -27^th at the KY Horse Park and Chloe and Taler will be there and be out for blue!  We are hoping to host a clinic the first weekend of June, stay tuned for details on that.  Come out and support the local Eventing community by spectating and/or volunteering!  Also, check out our new ‘Calendar’ link on the website, which will be updated regularly with events and competitions.

L & N Equine would like to welcome our new horses to the farm this month.

• Bluegrass D’Lite, 2 y/o Thoroughbred filly owned by Kent Hersman
• Goody, a 2 y/o Thoroughbred gelding owned by Ledgelands Farm

L & N Equine was represented by several horses at the last Snowbird Dressage of the year on March 17^th.  Chloe and Andrea Balas were 3^rd and 4^th in their Intro tests, Takoda, owned by Karen Ashepa, won his Intro test, Evie, owned by Pam Deeds, was 2^nd in her Intro test, Malibu Bay was 4^th in her first test ever, and Incredibly was 3^rd in Second Level.  At the Champagne Run Dressage Show on March 21^st, Ray, owned by Andrea Balas, put in a capable test for his first foray into the dressage ring and Roxanna, owned by Jennifer Cave, wowed everyone with a 65 in her test, winning the class!

The Eventing season is upon us again and here at L & N Equine, we are so EXCITED!  April 7^th and 8^th mark the first event of the season, Spring Bay Horse Trials.  Dressage and Show Jumping will take place at the Kentucky Horse Park on April 7^th and Cross Country will be run at Masterson Station Park on April 8^th.  L & N will be represented by Incredibly, ridden by Lauren Nethery, in the Prelim division and by Clever Colors, ridden by Andrea Balas, at the Beginner Novice Level.  Come out and support the local Eventing community by spectating and/or volunteering!  Keep an eye on the website as well for a new ‘Calendar’ link and the events that will appear on said Calendar.  Also, don’t forget Keeneland starts next weekend and will run until the end of the month!  Please attend the races and support the local racing community!

L & N Equine would like to welcome our new horses to the farm this month.

L & N is excited to have completed our new, enclosed round pen between the house and the small barn.  Many thanks to George, Sam, Mack, Luis, Aaron, Tom Joyce, Bethany Nursery, Mike Thompson, Steve Bethany, Vulcan Materials (especially Lori and Steve), and Eric Hager for making this possible.  Please feel free to enjoy this new feature!

On February 18^th L&N returned to the show ring with Chloe, Roxie, Evie, Taler, and Koda all rocking their dressage tests at the KHP and bringing home ribbons.  Special congratulations go to Andrea and Chloe for bringing home the emerald in their return to the showing scene. The Snowbird Dressage Series will conclude March 17^th and Koda and Taler, in line for Series High Point awards, will be competing, in addition to several other horses on the farm.  See www.kentuckydressageassociation.org for more info. Champagne Run will be hosting a Jumper Stumper show March 4^th beginning at 10am.  Bu, Chloe, Ray, Evie, Koda, Taler, and Roxie will all be representing L& N.  Please feel free to come out and spectate! L & N would like to thank all of the boarders and clients that keep us in business for your understanding during these winter months.  We again apologize for the sporadic water inconveniences and feel that we have the problem fixed for good now.  Please be cognizant of keeping the feed room and bathroom doors closed to keep the heat in and the winter out.  We have tied the tack room door opened for convenience as well.  Also, please be mindful that the cats cannot escape, so please do not lock them in any of the rooms.  Thank you all and we would not be here without each and every one of you.

Snowbird Dressage will resume February 18^th.  Close date for entries is February 8^th.  L & N will be out in force with Chloe, Evie, Koda, Roxie, Taler, and Thor all making appearances. While we have certainly been enjoying the mild weather here in at L & N, Old Man Winter is threatening to arrive in force. We are doing our best to keep the farm and ring in tip top shape despite the freezing temperatures and we appreciate your patience.  January is the off-season in Kentucky, however L & N hopes to represent the local community in FL at the end of the month.  Snowbird Dressage will resume in February. See www.kentuckydressageassociation.org for more info. We are also working on scheduling several clinics and guest instructors and will update you all as soon as more information becomes available.

L & N Equine has enjoyed a quiet 30 days or so.  Nonetheless, Snowbird Dressage at the KHP Dec 3^rd was a success.  Koda, owned by Karen Ashepa, rocked the Intro C division with a 3^rd place and Incredibly scored well into the 60’s to finish 5^th in his first 2^nd Level test.  Rolling Hill Equestrian Center in Midway hosted a show the following weekend and Evie, Roxie, and Koda represented L & N Equine with ribbons and good performances all around.  Evie, owned by Pam Deeds, was wonderful for her first excursion off the farm since being stated under saddle.  Roxie, owned by Jennifer Cave, brought home a red rosette and was quite brave in a spooky ring.  Koda also braved the indoor and brought home a red rosette as well.

Winter is finally rolling into the Bluegrass..  The KHP is hosting its last show of the year, Snowbird Dressage, on December 3^rd.  Keep an eye on www.kentuckydressageassociation.org for more Snowbird Shows (Feb & Mar).  Don’t miss out on the Southern Lights display coming up at the KHP this Holiday season, it is a must to get in the Christmas Spirit.  Ballyhigh Show Stable in Versailles is hosting a ‘No Frills’ Jumper Show December 10^th for beginning horses and riders.  Also, Rolling Hills Equestrian Center in Midway is hosting a x-rails to 4’ Jumper Show with great prizes and CASH on December 11^th.

L & N Equine traveled to New Market, TN to compete in the River Glen Horse Trials a few weeks ago and brought home ribbons on all accounts. Koda, owned by Karen Ashepa, was 6^th in his second Novice event.  Incredibly, owned by Lauren Nethery, finished 7^th in his division as well.  At the Sycamore Ridge Farm Jumper show Nov 20^th, Koda and Taler both brought home Reserve Champion ribbons, each winning a class and each pinning 2^nd in a class.
